If your home is an Eligible Home, you are entitled to the following:
Leak Detector Unit (LDU)
All Eligible Homes qualify for the supply and installation of a leak detector free of charge. This includes homes with no Plumbing Failures and irrespective of whether your builder is a Participating Builder or not.
An installed LDU will minimise the impact of any detected Plumbing Failure and provide greater peace of mind by shutting off the water system if a failure occurs.
If you are an owner (or a property manager with authorisation), you can register your interest in receiving an LDU by completing the registration form here.
Please click here for further details on the LDU. You can also contact your builder if you have any further questions about the process.
Remediation and replacement work
If your eligible home experiences a Typlex Pipe Plumbing Failure, your Participating Builder will arrange all repair works and pipe replacements per the agreed work programme.
If you have contacted your builder about the Plumbing Failure and they are not a Participating Builder, you should consider lodging a building services complaint with the Building Commissioner.
Agreed Work Programme
First Plumbing Failure
If you experience your first Plumbing Failure, contact your Participating Builder, and they will organise the following:
- fix the Plumbing Failure;
- repair the property damage directly caused to your home and its contents by the Plumbing Failure; and
- offer to replace all Typlex Pipes in the ceiling of the top floor of your home (ceiling re-pipe).
Second Plumbing Failure
If after the commencement of IR, you experience a second Plumbing Failure, contact your Participating Builder, and they will organise the following:
- identify and fix the Plumbing Failure;
- if the Plumbing Failure is in the wall, you may decide to replace all Typlex pipes within that room (zone re-pipe); and
- repair the property damage directly caused to your home and its contents by the Plumbing Failure.
Third or any Subsequent Plumbing Failure
If you have already experienced or, after the commencement of IR experience a third or more Plumbing Failure, contact your Participating Builder and they will organise the following:
- fix the Plumbing Failure;
- repair the property damage directly caused to your home and its contents by the Plumbing Failure;
- if the Plumbing Failure is in the wall, you may select, in consultation with your builder:
- Zone re-pipe: replace all Typlex pipes in that room; or
- Full Home re-pipe: replace all Typlex pipes within the walls of your home; and
- If you choose the full home re-pipe, then you can also request an alternate accommodation for the period that the repairs are being done.
Exclusions
If a Plumbing Failure occurs in a Typlex pipe outside your home, it will be repaired but not replaced (even under a full home re-pipe).
