If you are a homeowner of an Eligible Home, you can take the following activities:

  • register for an LDU (if you choose to receive one and don’t have one already); and
  • maintain contact with your builder and notify your builder immediately if you experience a Plumbing Failure

If your builder is a Participating Builder in the Industry Response, they will be able to arrange for remedial works to be performed and other preventive measures per the Agreed Work Programme at no cost to you. However, if the participating builder refuses to perform the work as per the Agreed Work Programme or does not respond to you, please contact DEMIRS.

If your builder advises that they are not a Participating Builder and you are not satisfied with their response to the Plumbing Failure, you should consider making a building services complaint to the Building Commissioner.

Recent law changes mean that you can make a building service complaint about Typlex pipes up to 15 years after the construction of your home was completed and, in most cases, expect to receive the same remedial work for Plumbing Failures available under the Industry Response.

If, for some reason, your builder is no longer around or is insolvent or you cannot locate them, you may be able to access the Industry Response as a Qualifying Homeowner
